Typically when you import a vehicle from outside the EU (UK, Japan and other countries) to Ireland you are required to pay 3 taxes: Customs Duty, VAT & VRT. However if you transfer business to Ireland you may be exempt and it may be possible to import the vehicle tax free. In general you need to have ceased trading outside the state, started a new business in Ireland and owned your vehicle(s) for more than 12 months. This will save you thousands of euro in tax.
